CORE VALUES

Purpose

This foundation of values is designed to create awareness regarding how we emphasize and
focus our activities. This is to make it easier to spark interest and initiate contact. In
addition, it is intended to help all adults who assist to pull in the same direction as much as possible,
and to ensure the activities are predictable and safe. Enjoy your reading!

Vision

"Where people and animals find joy and personal development."
The vision is comprehensive. To find joy, you must feel safe and included in the group.
A stable and predictable routine for every single day is perhaps the foundation of our program
for children to feel secure. Furthermore, the adults are the ones in charge. This ensures that teasing
does not exist. With a fixed group where everyone knows each other, it becomes a safe arena
for personal expression. The activities span a wide range, where there are plenty of opportunities
to push boundaries and experience a sense of mastery – both practical and social. The children are good at providing
input to each other and respecting if someone is having a rough day.
The vision also includes a focus on the animals' joy and personal development. For us, who
also operate a horse boarding stable and dog breeding, it is important that everyone contributes to the animals' well-being
and development in the desired direction. This focus also makes it more interesting to be with
the animals.

Interpersonal values

We have several core values. Firstly, it is fundamental to show others respect and
understanding for who they are. Trust and a sense of responsibility are other key focuses. It is important that each
individual is seen and heard. This can at times be difficult when everyone wants attention simultaneously.
In such cases, it is important to distribute it fairly, including to those who are not the loudest. And everything shall take place in a
caring atmosphere. We set clear boundaries, albeit perhaps slightly broader ones than
usual.

Communication

We strive for direct and clear communication. If a person feels poorly
treated, or if something occurs that does not feel right, our culture accepts and encourages
telling one of the adults about it. If it is something someone else
has said or done, it will be addressed with the person in question immediately; and by doing so, we avoid
similar things happening again. We are also committed to giving praise and recognition when it is
appropriate.
We have a clear system that the adults are in charge, and this is accepted.

Worldview

We who run Snerting Ranch do not adhere to any particular religion. We do, however, believe
that there may be many things between heaven and earth, and we respect every belief.
With us, no one will be influenced in any particular direction.

Dietary habits

We try to accommodate different dietary habits, and especially food allergies. In general, we strive for
minimal sugar.

Relationship with animals
Interaction with animals involves many activities. Perhaps the most important is cuddling with
the animals – preferably on one's own with plenty of time. We use the horses for riding. The dogs
can be trained in obedience, and they enjoy going for walks. The most fundamental aspect of
interacting with the animals is that they must want to participate. Let them come to you, and
then give affection. If they walk away, it is important to respect that, and possibly learn from it for the next
time.

Mastery

Mastery can mean many things, but regardless, it provides important ballast for the rest of life.
We are committed to having children try as many new things as possible, and that they must also perform
daily chores such as cutting bread slices themselves. Mastering a horse (a large animal
with several hundred kilos of muscle) from its back is one arena. Being in charge
of dinner preparation is another. Daily life with us is full of such opportunities. When you stand on
top of a stack of 20 milk crates and your feet tremble so much that those around you become
scared, it can be a huge experience that makes you stronger in many different situations
later on.
As a youth, perhaps the most important thing is to learn to master social situations. With us, they sleep
several in the same room, and they must cooperate on many different tasks. And of course, there is much
play and fun, which creates cohesion and a sense of group belonging.

Social

With us, it is the adults who decide. This ensures that everyone feels equal, which secures participation
in everything that happens. We meet socially in many arenas. Most things take place
outdoors. Many different games. Campfires in the evening with joke-telling. Singstar at
the top of our lungs where everyone joins in, cooking over a campfire, and so on. Constantly new arenas appear.
